Freeths is preparing to celebrate International Women's Day in style by bringing together the local business community with an inspiring businesswoman and TV favourite as their special guest.
Ex-career banker turned entrepreneur and BBC Dragon Den favourite Jenny Campbell has been invited to Freeths' exciting event on Thursday 8th March which is focused upon raising awareness of the 'Press for Progress' campaign. Over 70 local businesswomen and men will have the opportunity to listen to an interview with Jenny, known for setting up Your-Cash Europe and winning Businesswoman of the Year in 2014, which will focus on the rise of successful female entrepreneurs and the challenges they face to succeed in business. Guests will also be able to take part in a Q&A session.
The event, taking place at Valentine Clays new contemporary gallery in Fenton, Stoke-on-Trent, will see local businesswoman, Sarah De Silva, owner of Zebra Consultancy and first female chair of professional services organisation Finest, lead the informal style interview. Totally Delicious are supporting the event by serving themed canapes and non-alcoholic cocktails.
International Women's Day 2018 campaign #PressForProgress is aimed at motivating and uniting people to be gender inclusive with the 2017 Gender Gap Report mentioning that gender parity is still over 200 years away. Freeths' International Women's Day event is aimed at raising awareness of this campaign and uniting local business people to the cause. During the event, ceramic flowers, handmade by Valentine Clays, will be given to guests as a symbol of the campaign and to draw focus on the historic skills of our local women and most famous industry.
Jenny Campbell, British entrepreneur, commented: "Despite vast efforts for gender parity to transcend industries and sectors there is still a distance to go within the business landscape and this year's International Women's Day theme certainly shines a light on this. During my career, particularly in banking, I experienced gender stereotypes which I was just expected to accept. I chose to stand up to these challenges at every possibility and it is this that defined my strength in business acumen.
For women all over the world, this determination and strength in character that will eventually eradicate conscious and unconscious gender stereotypes in the workplace and move us towards a society that doesn't need to champion this issue because we already organically embrace it. I am really looking forward to celebrating this along with my friends at Freeths on International Women's Day."
