Freeths advises on sale of Consilium Strategic Communications to ICR

National law firm Freeths has advised on the sale of Consilium Strategic Communications to ICR, a US based global strategic communications and advisory firm.

Consilium Strategic Communications is a leading international strategic healthcare and communications and investor relations firm focused on Europe and headquartered in London.

Over the past 10 years, founders Mary-Jane Elliott, Amber Fennell and the wider team built Consilium into Europe’s leading independent communications agency for the healthcare sector.

The business will now operate under the ‘ICR Consilium’ brand, combining Consilium’s team of more than 45 public relations and investor relations professionals. The transaction, which follows almost a decade of joint venture collaboration, will combine Consilium with ICR’s US-based healthcare practice, ICR Westwicke, forming a global healthcare strategic and financial communications powerhouse with nearly 200 clients and more than 100 team members across three continents.

ICR Consilium will continue with its existing management under the leadership of Mary-Jane Elliott and will integrate into ICR’s existing healthcare practice to significantly enhance its capabilities and service offering.

The Freeths team was led by Corporate Partners Francis DaltonMalin Svanberg Larsson, assisted by Managing Associate Edward Chapman and Associate Charlotte Collard.

Commenting on the deal, Francis Dalton said: “We were delighted to assist the fantastic Consilium team on this international transaction. The transaction was a great example of Freeths’ private equity team acting on the sell-side of a PE-backed transaction.”

Mary-Jane Elliott, Managing Partner at ICR Consilium, added: “We thoroughly enjoyed working with Freeths throughout this transaction and achieved great results together. The rigour of their advice and strength of the round the clock support was welcomed by our team. Freeths were also a pleasure to work with and enormously helpful as we progressed through this process. I would highly recommend using them to other companies going through a trade sale.”
