Freeths work with Glenbrook to acquire landmark building in Stockport

The real estate team at Freeths have recently worked with Glenbrook on the acquisition of the former Marks & Spencer building in Stockport. Located within Merseyway Shopping Centre, the site comprises 80,551 sq ft over the lower ground, ground and two larger upper floors. The store closed in April 2018 and has been vacant since. Glenbrook plans to transform and reposition the building for alternative office and leisure occupiers, and will also retain a retail element.

Chris Lloyd, investment director at Glenbrook, said: "The former M&S store represents a significant piece in the Merseyway Shopping Centre jigsaw. The building's size, configuration and location lends itself to a mixed-use scheme. "Stephen Lewis, real estate partner at Freeths in Manchester, commented: "This was an interesting transaction to be involved in and it provides an opportunity for Glenbrook to display their known skills in improving the building and bringing back to life the tenant offer in this part of the Shopping Centre. I look forward to assisting Glenbrook in bringing new occupiers to the building."
