Freeths advises RedCat Hospitality on the sale its leased and tenanted division to Admiral Taverns

Leading law firm Freeths has advised RedCat Hospitality on the sale of its leased and tenanted division, comprising 21 pubs, to Admiral Taverns.

Founded in 2021 by Rooney Anand, RedCat grew rapidly to operate around 100 sites under both a leased and tenanted, and a managed pubs and rooms model, which includes 36 venues of the award-winning Coaching Inn Group, recently named Which? Best Large UK Hotel Chain of the Year 2025.

This transaction will allow RedCat to streamline its portfolio and focus on its managed pubs and rooms strategy, where the business has historically seen its greatest growth potential. RedCat will now move to accelerate investment in its core estate, enhance customer experience, and capitalise on strong demand in its managed estate.

Admiral Taverns is a leading UK-based community pub group with a nationwide estate of 1,350 wet-led pubs. It works closely with licensees to help them run successful, independent businesses within their local communities.

The Freeths team was led by Drinks, Hospitality and Leisure Partner Leo Skinner and Corporate Partner Natalie Drought.

Commenting on the deal, Leo Skinner said: “Supporting RedCat on this landmark transaction has been an exciting opportunity for our team. This deal marks a pivotal step in RedCat Hospitality’s journey, enabling the business to sharpen its focus on its managed estate and accelerate growth in areas where the demand is strongest. We’re proud to have helped position RedCat for continued success in a competitive market.”
