Amjad is an experienced Real Estate solicitor who joined Freeths less than ten years after qualifying. He specialises in all aspects of Landlord and Tenant transactions, as well as commercial and residential property sales and acquisitions.
Amjad has expertise in acquisition and disposal of both commercial and residential property, as well as grant and acquisition of commercial and residential leases. He is experienced in landlord and tenant transactions, small business sales, pension fund transactions and property transactions for the NHS.
- Advising clients who previously ran their business as a partnership and now want to operate as a company. This involved the transfer of the existing business to the company, including a leasehold title which was subject to a legal charge. Amjad liaised with both the landlord and the lender, in order to have the lease transferred to the company and a new legal charge with supporting guarantees put in place.
- Acted on behalf of NHS Property Services Limited in the acquisition of an easement to lay pipe for the supply of gas to a health centre. This involved liaising with the installation contractor and the owner of the neighbouring land to approve plans and specifications and then drafting and completing a deed of easement. This matter was completed under a strict deadline in order to meet the contractors start date and Amjad worked swiftly to conclude matters on time.
- As part of a team, assisting a client in the purchase of a retail park for £6.5 million. This involved reporting to the client on the content of 10 occupational leases which the client was to take over, and outlining any potential issues with recommendations for further action.
- Acted in the purchase of a new unit in an industrial estate by a client. This involved liaising with the construction team to report on the various construction warrantees as well as dealing with the purchase documentation. An Estate Services Agreement was also required to ensure that the estate roads were properly maintained. Amjad compiled an extensive report on the property, highlighting any potential issues. He also arranged for the seller to pay for and provide indemnity polices to cover our client against the potential liabilities identified.
