Colin started his career in the Inland Revenue as an Inspector of Taxes. After two years as Taxation Manager of a firm of accountants in Lincoln, he moved to Price Waterhouse and became a partner in 1986. Colin developed a specialism in Estate Planning and, towards the end of his time with the Firm, was National Head of Personal Tax.
Colin joined Freeths as Chief Executive in 1991 and saw through a significant expansion programme, including the merger with Hunt Dickins in 1994, two further mergers and the opening of the Firm’s offices in Derby and Leicester. With the arrival of Peter Smith as Chief Executive in 2000, Colin became Executive Chairman and continues to play a leading role in shaping the Firm’s strategic planning. In his role, he spearheaded the Firm’s transformation with the opening of five new offices around the country. The development of the office network also involved strategic mergers in Stoke, Milton Keynes and Oxford.
Colin is a Director of several local companies.
