"At Freeths, commercial litigator Mike Gilmour focuses on handling insolvency disputes for clients such as Baker Tilly and BDO. Gilmour has particular expertise in bankruptcy."
(The Legal 500)
Mike specialises in all aspects of corporate restructuring and corporate and personal insolvency work. This includes dealing with both contentious disputes and non-contentious advisory work. He advises all relevant stakeholders, including insolvency practitioners, creditors and other financiers, companies and their directors and individuals.
He regularly advises company directors as to their legal duties and obligations, where their companies are (or may be) insolvent – and in relation to litigation brought against them by insolvency practitioners.
Mike also specialises in debt recovery, particularly through insolvency processes. He has a particular knowledge of acting for local authorities in this regard; in relation to the recovery of unpaid council tax, business rates and other sums.
Mike is listed as a Recommended lawyer in the Legal 500 (2016 Edition).
In over 20 years of specialism in these areas of work, Mike has dealt with countless court applications. These particularly include cases relating to investigating and overturning transactions entered into prior to insolvency.
