Rachel joined Freeths in 2017 and, following the completion of her training contract, qualified as an Associate in the Sheffield Restructuring and Insolvency team in September 2021. She has experience in both corporate restructuring and insolvency matters and also has acted on personal insolvency matters, undertaking contentious and non-contentious work.

Rachel advises a wide range of stakeholders involved in insolvency and restructuring matters, including insolvency practitioners, lenders, corporate clients and directors. She regularly advises on corporate insolvency processes, including administrations and liquidations, and individual insolvency processes.

Rachel advises insolvency practitioners acting as administrators in relation to the pre-appointment stage of the administration process and the post-appointment sale of company assets and businesses, administration trading issues, antecedent transaction claims and various other matters during the administration process. Her experience includes advising insolvency practitioners in relation to the recovery of assets from debtors and issuing claims against directors including misfeasance, transaction at undervalue, preference and wrongful trading claims.

Rachel is also experienced in advising both corporate clients and individual directors on directors’ duties and their obligations in scenarios where a company is in financial difficulty.
