Will was called to the Bar in 2000 and since 2004 has been dual-qualified as a solicitor-advocate, undertaking a wide range of high value and complex litigation, often with an international element. His specialisations include data privacy, where he has recently been bringing his expertise to bear in providing non-contentious strategic advice and project management capability to a range of clients as they grappled with the challenges of GDPR compliance.
Other specialisms include technology disputes, media and reputation cases, and contentious trust and probate work.
Will is listed as a Recommended Lawyer and Next Generation Partner in the Legal 500 (2020 edition).
Will was lead partner on a breach of restrictive covenant dispute which included an issue referred to the Supreme Court in 2018 (One Step v Morris-Garner UKSC 20); he was the advocate on the first successful claim in relation to a defamatory online review (Bussey v Page EWHC 563)
Will has advised a range of local, national and international clients about the implications for their business of the GDPR changes to data protection law. These have ranged from technology manufacturers concerned about the international sale of devices that process personal data; financial sector businesses looking to ensure that they achieved full GDPR compliance within an already heavily regulated compliance landscape; and businesses involved in cross-border data privacy disputes.
