Freeths fly high with deal award accolades and a triple win!

Freeths' corporate team was delighted to gain recognition at the recent prestigious 2017 Insider Dealmaker Awards for the quality of deals they are handling.

The team were winners in all three of the categories in which they were shortlisted (1) Deal of the Year, sub £10m - for the complex secondary MBO of Northampton amplifier manufacturer, Blackstar;

(2) Deal of the Year over £10m for the sale of Charles Wells’ brewery operation to Marston’s (this included a portfolio of over 30 beers, and as well as all corporate aspects, work involved transfer of employees, property issues and commercial agreements); and

(3) and Private Equity/Venture Capital Deal of the Year - the acquisition of Omar Group by Rutland Partners.

This recognition reflects the firm’s credentials in terms of the ability to handle large, complex deals involving multi-disciplinary teams, and was further reinforced by Freeths being given top tier ranking in the latest edition of Chambers & Partners. Published in November 2017, this independent clients' guide to law firms ranks Freeths' team alongside only one other firm covering Milton Keynes and the Thames Valley in tier 1 for corporate expertise.

Comments from clients interviewed by the publisher include praise for the "very high-quality service" that the team provides. Others say: "They were absolutely fantastic. They're very knowledgeable and they really understand their clients".

Milton Keynes Head of Corporate, Jonathan Hambleton, summed up the year

"The Insider wins, for three categories involving a judging panel, was a pleasing reflection of the quality of the work we are carrying out. 2017 has remained busy and we were delighted to add weight to the team with the arrival of Gary Smiths from Dentons earlier this year."
