Freeths celebrate two diversity and inclusion achievements
Freeths has been ranked 19th in the Social Mobility Employer Index 2018, being recognised for the work they do with young people, their recruitment and selection processes and how people from lower income backgrounds progress within the organisation.
The top 50 UK employers who have taken the most action to improve social mobility in the workplace were recently announced in what is believed to be the world’s only Social Mobility Employer Index.
The Index is the creation of the Social Mobility Foundation and is published in partnership with sponsors the City of London Corporation. It ranks the UK’s employers on the actions they are taking to ensure they are open to accessing and progressing talent from all backgrounds. This year it finds having a workforce that is diverse in terms of social background is fast becoming as important to employers as being diverse in terms of gender and race.
In the same week, Freeths also celebrated winning two awards at the Employers Network for Equality and Inclusion Awards (ENEI). The firm picked up both the ‘Small Employer of the Year’ category and ‘Inclusive culture’ category.
The awards took place at the Law Society and recognised organisations with a commitment to good practice, above and beyond legal compliance, who have innovative approaches that will inspire other employers.
Carole Wigley, HR Director at Freeths, commented: “Both of these accolades are great achievements for us. As a national firm with 12 offices, we have implemented best practice and innovative systems across the board and truly believe all aspects of our recruitment process should be inclusive.”
