With only 25% of FTSE 350 company boards being made up of women*, there is still a long way to go before equal representation in senior positions in business is achieved.
The Women of the Year annual awards therefore has an important role to play in promoting the achievement of successful females, who are inspiring their peers to leverage their talents to build prospering businesses.
In line with its strong diversity agenda, Freeths were delighted once again to sponsor the awards which celebrated its 36th year at a lunch at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole this month. More than 600 women attended to see Kiddylicious founder and Managing Director, Sally Preston, gain the accolade of Business Woman of the Year. She acknowledged that winning the award gives her a voice and platform to encourage other women to take up the challenge to succeed in business.
Chair of Women of the Year committee and representative of national legal practice, Freeths, Zalena Vandrewala commented: “Freeths has a high number of female lawyers in senior roles, and we know we are valued by the business. It is important to us to support and promote inspirational female role models in every area of business”.
