Waking up to Packaging Obligations – How to reduce your exposure
A surprising number of retailers and consumer goods businesses have found the recent introduction of the Plastic Packaging Tax 2022 (PPT) to be an unpleasant wakeup call in that, in addressing their obligations under the PPT, they’ve discovered for the first time that they have been failing to comply with their obligations under the existing packaging regime (Producer Responsibility Obligations/ PRO) which have been in place since 2007. And if you’ve wrapped your head around PPT and PRO, don’t forget that another layer of packaging costs will soon(ish) be here in the form of the Extended Producer Responsibility for Packaging.
Freeths would like to invite you to our upcoming webinar, which will leave you upskilled and informed, with discussion brought to you by a panel of experts including:
- Kirstin Roberts of Freeths’ Clean Energy, Waste & Sustainability team will take you through your key obligations under PPT, PRO and pEPR.
- Thomas Hare of Valpak, keeping retail and consumer businesses compliant today and tomorrow, in the UK and all over the world will discuss; EPR Data Gathering Requirements, Scoping Advice, Packaging Problems and Greenwashing.
- Tim Cowling and Mark Griffiths of Tarmac will set out Tarmac’s journey in terms of ensuring its use of packaging links in with its sustainability plan and ambitions and reduces costs in the business and outline how Tarmac has responded to the Plastic Packaging Tax and issues regarding Extended Producer Responsibility proposals.
