Freeths lawyer appointed as the new Master of the Worshipful Company of Engineers

Long-standing Freeths former partner and consultant Raymond Joyce has been appointed as the Master of the Worshipful Company of Engineers.

Raymond is a chartered civil engineer with more than 30 years’ experience in construction and engineering law, has made history as the first solicitor and chartered engineer to take the post to be installed as the Master.

Founded in 1983, the Worshipful Company of Engineers is a modern City of London Livery Company of senior, leading engineers from industry and academia representing the full diversity of today’s engineering. Through social functions, the organisation shares professional engineering knowledge with lectures, visits and networking events. Each year it makes awards valued at over £100,000 to young engineers.

As a member of the Company for 12 years, in his new role, Raymond will lead on the Worshipful Company of Engineers’ 40th year anniversary celebrations. In particular, Raymond is committed to supporting the Company’s strengthening relationships within the City of London and encouraging engineers to use their skills and expertise to create solutions to alleviate the causes or consequences of poverty.

Commenting on the appointment, Raymond Joyce said: “I’m delighted and very honoured to be installed as the new Master of the Worshipful Company of Engineers. My aim is to continue to help support the Company grow its network and raise its standing during its 40th year.
