Freeths advises Chalkstring management team on sale to Eque2
Leading law firm Freeths has advised the management team of Chalkstring Limited on its sale to construction software provider Eque2, a transaction that strengthens Eque2's cloud-based product offering and supports its next phase of growth in the construction technology market.
Chalkstring is a cloud-native estimating and cost management software platform built specifically for specialist contractors. For more than nine years, the business has helped construction companies improve project profitability and commercial performance through enhanced visibility of costs, revenue and forecasting.
Bowmark Capital-backed Eque2 is a leading provider of specialist software solutions to the construction industry, supporting contractors across estimating, commercial management, project delivery and financial management.
The acquisition will see Chalkstring’s technology become the foundation of Eque2’s next-generation estimating platform. The transaction supports Eque2’s broader cloud product strategy and will enable customers to benefit from enhanced estimating, commercial management and financial control capabilities through an integrated digital workflow.
The Freeths team was led by Corporate Managing Associate Olivia Johnson and Corporate Senior Associate Christie Nelson.
Commenting on the deal, Olivia Johnson said: “Chalkstring has developed an innovative platform that addresses real challenges for specialist contractors. This transaction positions the business to build on that success as part of Eque2 and we were pleased to support the management team throughout the process.”
Sarah Crawford, Managing Director of Chalkstring, added: “We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve built at Chalkstring over the last nine years and joining Eque2 marks an exciting next chapter for the business. The acquisition gives us the opportunity to build on everything we’ve achieved so far, while accelerating our joint vision for the product and bringing its benefits to a much wider market. Freeths were a fantastic partner throughout the transaction, providing clear, pragmatic advice and supporting us every step of the way.”
