Freeths advises Owl Group on Staffordshire housing development land acquisition
Leading law firm Freeths has advised Tamworth-based housebuilder Owl Group on the acquisition of a 20.5-acre development site in Madeley, Staffordshire, which will deliver 188 new homes.
Founded in the Midlands, Owl Group is a fast-growing residential developer operating across both open market and partnership-led housing. Through its housebuilding arm, Owl Homes, and affordable housing specialist Owl Partnerships, the group delivers mixed-tenure developments focused on sustainability, quality design and long-term community impact.
The Madeley Grange site represents Owl Group’s largest land acquisition to date. The development will comprise 96 open market homes delivered by Owl Homes, alongside a mixed-tenure scheme by Owl Partnerships providing 29 social rent homes, 26 shared ownership homes and 37 affordable homes.
Leading the Freeths team on this transaction was Housebuilding & Strategic Land Partner Emily Danson. She was supported by Real Estate Managing Associate Tracy Adams, Real Estate Senior Associate Abigail Thomas and Planning & Environment Associate Tiegan Patrick.
Commenting on the deal, Emily Danson said: “This acquisition is a significant step forward for Owl Group and underlines the strength of its ambition to deliver high-quality, mixed-tenure housing across the region. Developments of this scale require careful structuring and a clear understanding of both market and partnership-led delivery, and it was a pleasure to support the team on a transaction that aligns so closely with their long-term vision.”
