Freeths’ growing strength recognised with new and improved rankings in Chambers UK 2027

Freeths has secured 19 new and improved team rankings in the Chambers UK 2027 guide, with five teams entering the rankings and 14 moving up. The standout results across our national practice recognise the great work we are doing and the important part our people play in this.

Real Estate showed the strongest areas of progression, with four of Freeths’ six ranked teams in the sector moving up a band, while the other two retaining Band 1. The London Real Estate team moved into Band 1 of London – Real Estate: £10-50 million, giving Freeths three top-ranked Real Estate practices nationally.

Across Chambers, Freeths now holds 10 Band 1 team rankings. New and promoted team rankings span several regions and practice areas, including Corporate and M&A, Employment, Litigation, Planning and Environment, Restructuring and Insolvency, Retail and Social Housing.

Freeths has 23 Band 1 lawyer rankings, seven lawyers achieve this accolade for the first time. They include Patrick Adie, John Jeffreys, Duncan Tringham, Emily Settle, Lucy Richardson, Tom Burgess and William Richmond-Coggan. William Richmond-Coggan entered Band 1 of the UK-wide Cyber and Breach Response category, one of several areas in which Freeths lawyers were recognised for the first time.

The results also provide more evidence of Freeths’ strong growth in Scotland, following continued investment since the firm opened its Glasgow office in July 2023. Jane Dickers entered the Litigation rankings in Band 4, while Heather Gibson was recognised as Up and Coming for Tax. Amy McVey retained her Up and Coming ranking for Restructuring and Insolvency, following her progression into the category in the previous guide.

Philippa Dempster, Senior Partner at Freeths, said: “This is a brilliant result for our people and one we should be proud of. It shows progress right across the firm. We’re seeing established practices build on strong positions, while newer areas of expertise are beginning to earn national recognition.

“That balance really matters. It means clients can draw on the depth of recognised teams across a growing range of services and locations. The recognition for our colleagues in Scotland is particularly encouraging and reflects the hard work and investment that has gone into building our presence there.”
