Freeths ranked Tier 1 in record 24 categories in The Legal 500 UK 2027

Freeths has secured its highest-ever number of Tier 1 team rankings in The Legal 500 UK, with 24 in the 2027 guide. Four practices reached the top tier and eight teams entered the rankings for the first time.

The results show progress across both established and developing areas of the firm. Four practices moved into Tier 1: East Midlands Construction, Planning and Environment, Property Litigation and Social Housing.

Eight teams entered the rankings for the first time, including a national ranking for International Arbitration and new regional rankings across Manchester, Sheffield, the Thames Valley, Yorkshire, the South West and the South East.

Recognition also extended across different stages of the firm’s talent pipeline: 19 lawyers entered the rankings for the first time and a further 10 were promoted within their categories.

Alongside that new recognition, Freeths now has 14 lawyers in The Legal 500 Hall of Fame. Penny Simpson, John Heaphy and Phil Baigent joined the Hall of Fame this year, which recognises practitioners who have received consistent praise from clients for continued excellence.
