Leading law firm Freeths has further expanded its national Real Estate practice with the appointment of Andrew Wallis to its Sheffield office. He joins from Clyde and Co.
Andrew brings extensive experience advising a broad range of built-environment stakeholders on complex investment, development and regeneration projects. He has a particular specialism in investment portfolio transactions, mixed-use development and regeneration-led schemes.
He holds a strong sector focus on hospitality and residentially-led development, including housing, purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) and build to rent (BTR) schemes, while continuing to advise across industrial, retail and wider commercial property.
Andrew’s notable work includes advising on the creation and the ultimate £417m disposal of a major UK PBSA portfolio, the development of various PBSA and BTR developments across the country, including New Era Square in Sheffield and the acquisition and regeneration strategy of town centre shopping centres. He has also acted on significant financings for a large hotelier across major UK airports.
Commenting on the Andrew’s appointment, Partner and National Head of Real Estate Darren Williamson said: “Andrew’s arrival is a fantastic addition to our national, well-established team. His depth of experience in complex projects, particularly across hospitality, residential and PBSA, is really well aligned with the work we are delivering for clients. We’re delighted to welcome him to the team and look forward to the strength and insight he will bring.”
Andrew Wallis added: “I’ve watched Freeths’ year on year growth with real admiration, from its standout recruitment to its eye catching client wins. It’s incredibly exciting to now be part of that journey. The firm is exceptionally well led, and the positivity and energy within the business is truly palpable.”
