Alastair Frood

Alastair is a commercial disputes partner with almost three decades’ experience as a dedicated litigation lawyer and more than 15 years as a partner. He has led litigation teams in Scotland across national and international firms, with a particular focus on finance, regulatory and compliance litigation, fraud investigations, insolvency disputes, professional negligence, insurance litigation, director disqualification and live company investigations, procurement challenges, judicial factories, contentious executries and complex multi-jurisdictional commercial disputes.

He regularly advises clients on the management of contentious risk and has extensive experience across litigation, mediation, arbitration, expert determination and high-value proceedings in the Sheriff Court and Court of Session. Alastair is one of a limited number of solicitors in Scotland with hands-on experience of successfully implementing multi-location dawn raids for the recovery and preservation of evidence under section 1 of the Administration of Justice Act.

Alastair has acted for high street banks, insurers, insolvency practitioners, utility companies, PLCs, professional partnerships, owner-managed businesses and SMEs. He has a strong track record of building and growing litigation practices, developing teams, mentoring junior lawyers, managing client relationships and delivering cross-practice opportunities for clients.
