Conor McDonagh

Conor is a specialist in IT and Data Protection within the commercial team at Freeths, where he advises on a broad range of commercial, technology, and data-driven contracts. He possesses particular expertise in software licensing, cloud services, and digital transformation projects, regularly supporting clients in navigating complex data protection and cybersecurity obligations. Conor is known for offering practical, business-focused advice that balances legal compliance with strategic commercial objectives.

His professional approach is heavily informed by his in-house experience, having completed client secondments with Mercedes-Benz and Travis Perkins. During these placements, he provided legal support on technology transactions and data compliance initiatives, gaining a deep understanding of internal business priorities. This background allows him to bring a commercially astute and collaborative perspective to every instruction, bridging the gap between private practice and the needs of a busy in-house team.

Active in the professional community, Conor serves as the Head of Freeths’ Junior Networking Committee (Initiate) for the Birmingham office, where he supports local collaboration and professional development. Additionally, he is an Executive Committee Member of Future Faces Birmingham, part of the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce. In this role, he helps champion emerging talent and future leaders across the region through various networking, mentoring, and skills-building opportunities.
