About Jane
Jane is a specialist litigation lawyer and qualified as a Scottish solicitor in 2011. She has conducted Criminal, Civil and Family cases in Sheriff Courts across Scotland and in the High Court of Justiciary and the Court of Session. She is particularly well known for her exemplary advocacy skills.
Jane now specialises in Commercial Dispute Resolution and is a trusted adviser to clients involved in complex and high-value litigated matters. She is a warm and empathetic lawyer, but has a forthright and dynamic approach to resolving business conflicts.
Prior to her career in law, Jane enjoyed a varied and high-profile career as a strategic communications and risk management adviser to some of the UK’s leading real estate, financial and professional service organisations. She now uses her significant commercial acumen to provide pragmatic, solution-focused advice to clients across a range of disciplines.
An Oxford graduate, Jane also has English and International Law qualifications, and an MSc in Security & Risk Management.

Recent work
- Acted for the successful appellant in Wright -v- Wright [2004] SCA (Civ) 48, which confirmed the Scots Law principle that there can be no debt without a debtor. An important case which considered the status of obligations owed by a dissolved companies and the effect on ancillary obligations, such as standard securities
- Acted for the environmental charity, the Open Seas Trust, in its successful Judicial Review of the Scottish Ministers in relation to fishing licence variations. At first instance, and in the reclaiming motion by the Ministers, the Court confirmed that Marine Scotland acted unlawfully in failing to fulfil its obligations under the Marine (Scotland) Act 2010.
