Before Freeths were recommended to me, I was using a very expensive firm who looked good on paper. Much to my disappointment I soon found out this was a mistake. So, I was somewhat sceptical about what to expect from Freeths. Thankfully, at a point where I was sorely in need of sound, honest advice, Tom Draper and Lee Williams provided it. From the beginning they set out a very detailed and cogent advice. Thereafter they guided me expertly through the negotiations. At times when I needed a very quick response, Lee was always there to assist. I would have zero hesitation in recommending these two lawyers to advise on employment issues. It may assist to know that I too am a lawyer, so I'd like to think I'd recognise decent legal advice when I see it"
Lee is a Senior Associate in the Freeths employment team, based in Sheffield. He qualified into the employment team in 2020 after undertaking training in the corporate, dispute resolution and employment departments.
Lee has a keen interest in employment law. As part of his day-to-day role, he advises both employers and individuals on a variety of day-to-day employment and HR issues, including settlement agreements, health and wellbeing matters, disciplinaries, grievances, performance issues, sickness absence, employment contracts, holiday pay, TUPE and data protection.
Lee also regularly represents both claimants and respondents in the employment tribunal. This includes bringing and defending a variety of claims such as unfair dismissals, discrimination, NMW breaches and whistleblowing. Lee’s advice covers the whole of the tribunal claims process, from submitting the claim or response up to providing advocacy at the final hearing.
Before qualifying as a solicitor, Lee completed an undergraduate degree in law and a master’s degree in corporate and commercial law at the University of Sheffield. He then completed the legal practice course at the University of Law in Leeds.
Lee was recently recognised for his work with the Sheffield employment team in the 2022 edition of the Legal 500.
