About Michael
Michael Hoskins joined Freeths growing and dynamic Dispute Resolution Team in Birmingham in March 2019, bringing a wealth of experience in the effective management of commercial disputes, having acted for individuals, SMEs and multinational PLCs.
Michael has been engaged on several high profile and complex cases, professional negligence claims, shareholder and director disputes (including cross jurisdictional work), IT contract disputes, as well as various contractual claims. He is currently acting for clients in the clean energy and sustainability sector in relation to solar projects, in the retail and food sectors in relation to supply agreements, professional negligence claims (he is currently assisting on two claims against solicitors) and product liability claims. Michael also advises on climate change litigation issues.
He also has an in-depth knowledge of insurance law having advised both commercial and household insurers in respect of claims and coverage disputes, as well as misrepresentation and non-disclosure.
Michael has represented clients as both Claimants and Defendants in the County Court and High Court. He also knows the risks and potential costs that litigation brings and is adept with alternative dispute resolution, having led numerous mediations, adjudications and arbitrations in order to deliver the best results for clients.

Acting for a national logistics business in High Court Technology and Construction Court proceedings arising from the failed implementation of a bespoke IT system; advising on claims for deceit, misrepresentation and breach of contract (valued at £5–10 million) and securing a favourable commercial settlement following proceedings and ADR
Acting for an engineering business in a significant pre-action dispute with a major automotive manufacturer concerning alleged delays, termination rights and payment obligations under a high-value electric vehicle production-line contract, coordinating complex technical evidence and pre-action correspondence in a claim valued at approximately €30 million
