Oliver is extremely experienced in corporate insolvency matters, undertaking contentious and non-contentious work.

Oliver regularly advises insolvency practitioners acting as administrators in relation to the appointment process, pre-pack and post-appointment sales of company assets and businesses, administration trading issues, antecedent transaction claims and various other matters during the administration process. Oliver specialises in advising companies and directors of financially stressed companies in working through solvent solutions for rescue, including refinancing and creditor arrangements. Oliver has worked on some of the largest and most complex restructurings nationwide within the last 10 years.

Oliver is experienced in negotiating with various high-profile stakeholders and providing strategic advice to the client during the course of the restructuring process. Oliver has advised on restructuring matters in various sectors including retail, hospitality & leisure, manufacturing, sport, financial services, infrastructure and transport.

Oliver also advises insolvency practitioners in relation to creditors’ claims, ROT issues, dealing with winding up petitions and CVL’s, the recovery of assets from debtors and taking actions against directors.

Oliver also advises in relation to:

• Directors’ duties and obligations in scenarios where a company is in financial difficulty

• Advising directors of companies in an insolvency process in relation to claims against them from an administrator or liquidator

• CVAs and restructuring plans

• Banking and finance restructuring and insolvency matters including security reviews and advising lenders on restructuring matters and enforcement strategy

• Dealing with enforcement matters, statutory demands, winding-up petitions and debt recovery

• Advising the administrators of Sheffield Wednesday Football Club, one of the oldest football clubs in England, on various complex and high-profile aspects of the Club’s administration culminating in the sale of the Club and ensuring its continued participation in the English Football League

• Advising the board of a long-standing manufacturing business on their directors’ duties in the context of financial distress and working with the board and certain stakeholders in seeking to achieve a successful turnaround and solvent outcome for the business

• Acting for the administrators of the Quiz Clothing group of companies on the administrations of the group, including the continued trading of the companies’ 37 UK stores, the realisation of assets and other key matters in the administration including certain cross-border matters in the administrations

• Acting for the administrators P&B Metal Components Limited, a historic manufacturer of precious and base metal components in connection with their appointment, the continued trading of the Company’s business and the subsequent sale of the company's business and assets to a global manufacturing group, successfully safeguarding 47 jobs and ensuring the continuity of the company's operations in the South Yorkshire region

• Acting for the administrators of a large group of companies operating nightclubs and bars across the UK under various trading names in relation to the appointment and sale of the group’s business and assets

• Acting for a private equity firm in relation to the acquisition of certain businesses in the drinks and hospitality sector from their administrators

• Advising the administrators of The Holiday Place Plc – a large holiday tour operator company, which had been trading for nearly 30 years. This involved advising on the sale of certain assets and other complex matters in the administration and subsequent liquidation

• The administration of a high-end fashion brand and the sale of its business and assets as part of a rescue of the brand and its business

• The administration of a large public limited company, which was listed on certain German stock exchanges, on their appointment, the de-listing process and other subsequent matters in the administration including the sale of a number subsidiary companies in the group including companies based in the USA, Asia and Australia

• Acting for a local authority with a population of over 300,000 in relation to a large restructuring in the sports sector and dealing with various high profile stakeholders including suppliers, customers and other local authorities

• Advising the operating company of a large UK Port in relation to a complex restructuring. This involved extensive negotiations with certain high-profile parties

• Advising an international manufacturing group on the acquisition of significant assets from the administrators of two UK based packaging companies

• Advising a company operating in the construction sector on the process of placing a subsidiary company into an insolvency process as part of a restructuring p rocess and the relevant considerations for the parent company

• Leading 4 complex and unprecedented restructurings of the UK Coal businesses between 2012 and 2015
