Ryan Smith

After joining Freeths as a Legal Assistant in June 2018, Ryan progressed through the firm’s Legal Assistant programme before beginning his training contract in March 2021. The latter stages of his training subsequently became more centred around the commercial property sector. Ryan joined the Real Estate team in Nottingham as a trainee in September 2021, before qualifying into the team as an Associate in September 2022.

Throughout his time in the team, Ryan gained experience across a wide variety of commercial property matters at both freehold and leasehold level, having worked on transactions involving:

• Landlord and Tenant matters
• High-value acquisitions and disposals
• Investment transactions
• Estate management matters
• Energy and infrastructure
• Banking / funding arrangements

He has also worked with a broad range of clients, from national retailers and universities to local businesses and individuals, and particularly enjoys taking on a client-facing role within the team.
