Freeths are winners at Central & East Dealmakers awards

Freeths’ Milton Keynes corporate team were out in force to pick up the award for Private Equity Deal of the year at Insider’s Central & East Dealmakers awards. The firm was also a key sponsor of the event which honoured the region’s corporate finance firms, banks, funders and private equity houses who have excelled in deal making during 2019.

The private equity deal of the year recognised the £85m refinancing of powered access business, AFI Group, by Pricoa Private Capital, on which Freeths advised. Following the refinancing, AFI went on to acquire Facelift GB and its rental fleet of more than 700 powered access machines.

As sponsors, Managing Partner of Freeths’ Milton Keynes office, Jonathan Hambleton, presented the Dealmaker of the Year award to Chris Wilson of KPMG, who leads the East Anglia team which advised on transactions with a combined value of £2.5bn over the last 12 months.

Jonathan commented on his team’s win: “This was the largest private equity deal in the region in the qualifying period.  The complexity of the deal demonstrates the high level of legal expertise available in Milton Keynes in support of growing businesses locally.”
