Freeths advises leading Oxford financial adviser
The highly regarded corporate team at Freeths Oxford have advised Critchleys Financial Planning LLP on its sale to Wren Sterling, one of the UK’s leading providers of specialist financial planning advice to private and business clients.
The acquisition provides Wren Sterling with a new hub in Oxfordshire to complement its seven other locations across the UK. The transaction will also enable Jason McGuigan and the team to strengthen their offering to clients, which includes some 300 households with assets under management of £150million, grow the team and consider further possible bolt-on acquisitions.
Malin Svanberg Larsson, corporate partner, led the transaction supported by James Lapham (corporate), Adam Edwards and Daniel Meyer (both financial services regulatory specialists) and Laura Tracey (employment law specialist).
Critchleys LLP will continue to support McGuigan by providing accountancy and tax support to selected clients.
The deal is the second acquisition by Wren Sterling this year, having acquired Mutual Financial Management in early June, subject to FCA approval.
Jason McGuigan commented: “It was great working with Malin and her team. Her advice was invaluable and helped us navigate the trickier parts of the transaction. We have worked with Freeths for many years and have always been able to count on them to achieve the best outcomes.”
Malin Svanberg Larsson said: “We have enjoyed a longstanding relationship with Jason and the team at both Critchleys Financial Planning LLP and Critchleys LLP. We are looking forward to being a part of the next stage of their journey and being able to continue to support such a key player in the Oxford market.”
