Freeths Expands Employment & Pensions Team with Four New Lawyers

National leading law firm, Freeths, has expanded its highly successful Employment and Pensions practice with the appointment of four new lawyers.

The Employment team has been bolstered by Amy Brokenshire (Director) joining the Birmingham office, Paul Bownes (Managing Associate), qualifying into the Nottingham office, whilst Nigel Jones (Director) joins the firm’s Pensions team in Leeds.

Rena Magdani, Partner and National Head of Employment, Pensions & Immigration, said: "I’m delighted to welcome Nigel, Amy, Paul and Andrew to the team. The employment, pensions and immigration practice has seen a 50% increase in turnover in the last four years, and the last 18 months has seen a significant increase in demand for our services due to Brexit and COVID-19.

Our team is recognised for being highly responsive, pragmatic and commercial, and we put our clients at the centre of everything we do. Our aim is to attract and develop the best lawyers and we are actively looking to appoint further high calibre lawyers to grow our team nationally."

Nigel Jones, said: "I was looking to join an ambitious and growing national firm with a commercial profile and market presence. I had heard good things about Freeths including its commitment to its people. I haven’t been disappointed; the firm has more than its fair share of accomplished lawyers and I’ve been made to feel very welcome while getting ‘stuck in’ to the work alongside teams from across the firm. I’m looking forward to playing my part in developing the firm’s pensions offering and contributing to the firm’s future success."

Amy Brokenshire, said: "It is exciting to be joining Freeths as it continues to see growth and success year on year, and being part of the employment team as Rena Magdani takes over as national head. It’s a busy and interesting time for employment lawyers and I will relish the opportunity to support our clients navigating this new landscape."

On his appointment Paul Bownes, Managing Associate comments: "I am delighted to join Freeths, which has a great reputation in both the public and private sectors. I am looking forward to this exciting opportunity to work with the team to support our clients as everyone emerges from the recent turbulent times."
