Freeths advises Inspirit Capital on acquisition of This Works

National law firm Freeths has advised UK-based private equity firm Inspirit Capital on its acquisition of leading sleep and skincare brand This Works Products Group from Canopy Growth Corporation.

Founded by Will Stamp and Albert Farrant, Inspirit successfully completed another efficient corporate carve-out with the purchase of UK-based This Works, utilising monies from institutional investors as well as from a new asset-based lending facility provided by Close Brothers.

The deal will see Inspirit support This Works grow the brand and accelerate innovation in an active consumer sector.

This Works develops, markets and sells its own range of science-backed and clinically proven products. It has launched several category-defining sleep products and has remained at the forefront of trends in skincare and wellness since 2004.

The Freeths legal team was led by Corporate Partner Robert Chidley, supported by Associate Mollie Brown.

Commenting on the transaction, Robert Chidley said: “We are delighted to have supported Will Stamp and Albert Farrant of Inspirit with this transaction. Their ability to find creative solutions to issues and transact quickly and efficiently reflects Freeths’ strengths and we look forward to working alongside them again in the future.”
