Lewis Whalley

Lewis joined Freeths in August 2018 and trained with the firm, qualifying into the Commercial team in London in March 2022.

Lewis has gained experience in drafting, negotiating and advising on a broad range of finance agreements including project finance, infrastructure finance, rail finance and asset finance.

Lewis has advised clients on a broad range of infrastructure and project finance transactions including several PFI and PPPs across a number of sectors within the UK with a particular focus on refinancing, variations and the expiry process.

Over the past year Lewis has advised and assisted in the drafting of key documents in relation to a rail finance matter including manufacture and supply agreements, operating leases, long term maintenance agreements and train services agreements. The value of this matter exceeded €500 million, which includes both the acquisition cost of the trains and cost of the maintenance.
