Former Health Secretary was shocked by NHS failings during his time in office

This week, Jeremy Hunt, former Health Secretary, has released a new book which details the “rogue” nature of the NHS during his time in power and how the poor service and failings in care shocked him “to his core”.

Hunt, who now chairs the Health and Social Care Committee, has confirmed that the issues within the NHS do not sit with individuals, but rather a system centre around fear of transparency and lack of honesty which in turn has led to devastating mistakes and avoidable deaths. Hunt feels that, in order to make real change, the entire system needs to be re-evaluated with a focus on the quality rather than quantity of care. At Freeths, we have seen these same concerns recurring throughout all of our clients' cases, particularly in relation to the maternity services in Nottingham, and it is clear that changes need to be made to prevent the same mistakes from affecting further patients and families. Please see our designated claims against maternity services page for more information.
