Freeths advises on multi-million-pound sale of Shaken Udder to leading chocolate company

Leading law firm Freeths has advised the selling founders of premium milkshake brand Shaken Udder and private equity investor LDC on the sale of the business to Spanish family-owned dairy company Idilia.

Founded in 2004, Shaken Udder has grown into one of the UK’s leading milkshake names, known for its high-quality ingredients and innovative flavours. Now boasting a 20-strong product portfolio, the business has seen significant growth in recent years, expanding its presence across major retailers and building a loyal consumer following.

Founded in Barcelona in 1945, Idilia is a global player in the dairy sector known for its breakfast and snack products, which include iconic brands like ColaCao and Nocilla. This deal marks the company’s first international acquisition.

The sale of Shaken Udder comes after a transformational four-year partnership with LDC, during which revenue increase by 91%, expanded its team by 66%, and outpaced the market with a 23.5% compound annual growth rate.

This deal will allow Shaken Udder to accelerate its growth plans, broaden its product range, and tap into new markets with the backing of an international dairy leader. It represents a significant milestone for the company and its founders, as well as an impressive return on investment for LDC, who have supported the group since 2021, positioning the business for long-term growth and success and creating new opportunities for its founder team, Jodie and Andy Howie.
