Freeths advises River Group on its first UK acquisition
Leading law firm Freeths has advised River Group, a leading Northern European water and wastewater services group, on its acquisition of Industrial Pumps Limited.
Headquartered in Sweden, River Group brings together more than 24 companies operating across the Nordic region and Northern Europe. The acquisition of Industrial Pumps marks River Group’s entry into the UK market and represents an important milestone in the Group’s international growth strategy.
Industrial Pumps is a South Yorkshire-based business specialising in commercial water pump sales, servicing and repairs. The company has established a strong reputation for its technical expertise and high-quality services within the sector.
The acquisition strengthens River Group’s position in the Northern European water and wastewater market and provides a strong platform for the Group’s continued expansion in the UK. Industrial Pumps’ technical capabilities, market knowledge and established customer relationships complement River Group’s existing operations and expertise across Northern Europe.
The Freeths team was led by Corporate Partner Lee Clifford, supported by Corporate Director Michael McMahon and Corporate Senior Associate Christie Nelson.
Commenting on the deal, Lee Clifford said: “Supporting River Group on its first UK acquisition highlights Freeths' strength in advising international investors on strategic transactions in the UK market. Working closely with the River Group team, we were able to provide seamless support throughout the process and help deliver a successful outcome. It was a pleasure to be involved in this transaction and we look forward to seeing the business continue to grow.”
Patrik Larsson, CEO at River Group, added: “Industrial Pumps is a strong addition to River Group and represents an important first step in establishing our presence in the UK. The company has an excellent reputation, strong technical capabilities and a well-established customer base.
