Freeths advises Wattstor on long-term renewable energy partnership with LSN Diffusion

Leading law firm Freeths has advised Wattstor on a long-term electricity supply agreement with LSN Diffusion, combining Wattstor’s Price Protect renewable electricity tariff with a major on-site solar and battery storage project at the manufacturer’s South Wales facility.

Long-standing client Wattstor is a next-generation energy company helping commercial and industrial customers achieve long-term energy cost certainty through its Price Protect renewable electricity tariff, alongside on-site generation, battery storage and flexible energy solutions.

LSN Diffusion is a specialist manufacturer of metal powders and one of Wales’s largest exporters, supplying international markets and operating from its base in Cilyrychen, Llandybie.

The partnership will see Wattstor finance and install a 1.3MW rooftop solar system alongside a 5MWh battery energy storage system at LSN Diffusion’s site. Once operational, the system is expected to meet around 25% of the company’s electricity demand, providing greater energy resilience and long-term cost certainty.

The project will also support LSN Diffusion’s continued growth in European markets, enabling it to meet increasing sustainability requirements from customers while reducing reliance on grid supply and avoiding significant infrastructure upgrade costs.

Leading the Freeths team were Head of Clean Energy Clare King and Real Estate Partner Michael Bray, supported by Clean Energy Director Liam O’Flynn, Clean Energy Associate Samantha Osborne, Real Estate Managing Associate James Bird and Real Estate Trainee James Baker.

Commenting on the deal, Clare King said: “The Freeths Clean Energy team really enjoys working with Wattstor, and advising on this transaction reflects our strong track record of supporting clients on innovative clean energy and infrastructure projects. We’re thrilled the parties have reached agreement on an arrangement that delivers long-term value and supports LSN’s continued growth in the UK market.”
