Freeths advises Wattstor on major renewable energy project for John Wainwright & Co. Ltd

Leading law firm Freeths has advised Wattstor on a renewable energy project for quarrying and construction materials business John Wainwright & Co Ltd (Wainwright) that is expected to provide over half (54%) of the site's electricity from renewable sources and cut its Scope 2 emissions by 50%.

The project combines solar generation, battery storage and Wattstor's Price Protect renewable electricity tariff to create a long-term energy solution that will help Wainwright reduce reliance on grid electricity, improve sustainability performance and gain greater certainty over future energy costs.

A long-standing client of Freeths, Wattstor is a next-generation energy company helping commercial and industrial customers achieve long-term energy cost certainty through its Price Protect renewable electricity tariff, alongside on-site generation, battery storage and flexible energy solutions.

Wainwright, an independent quarrying and construction materials business based in Somerset, has invested in the project to support its sustainability goals while reducing exposure to wholesale electricity market volatility and improve its overall business resilience.
