Freeths advise Egis on its latest acquisition

The Corporate team at national law firm Freeths have advised Egis on its recent acquisition of Galson Sciences Limited.

Galson Sciences provides a range of nuclear decommissioning and radioactive waste management services and carries out studies covering all aspects of radioactive waste such as inventory, treatment, conditioning, packaging, transport, warehousing and disposal.

Egis is an international group based in France which provides engineering services across a broad range of industries. Egis has a long tradition of activity in the nuclear industry. Its teams have participated in the design of all French technology nuclear power plants which have made France the second largest nuclear fleet in the world after the United States.

The acquisition of Galson Sciences allows Egis to meet its strategic plans to accelerate the development of its nuclear division in Europe through the extension of its services.

The Freeths corporate team led by Partner Lee Clifford and Director Leanne Fryer, assisted by Senior Associate Baljit Atwal and the Freeths’ wider market-leading teams, worked alongside Egis’ legal counsel to ensure the transaction ran smoothly.

François Martin, Director of the Nuclear activity for Egis, indicates: “The activity of Galson Sciences is perfectly consistent with our positioning in this industry and our Social and Environmental Responsibility, which is to provide our customers with safe infrastructure solutions for nuclear. “

Daniel Galson, Managing Director and Founder of Galson Sciences Ltd added that “Egis will provide us with complementary skills for our customers, both in the United Kingdom and internationally, thus extending the spectrum and volume of our radioactive waste management offering, and will help us grow in offering our highly qualified staff new opportunities.”

Lee Clifford, Corporate Partner at Freeths, added, “It was a pleasure to advise Egis on this deal and to assist Egis with its long term growth ambitions. Congratulations to all involved in the transaction and we wish the team at Egis and Galson Sciences Limited every success as they take the business forward.”
