Preparing for IR35

From 6 April 2021 IR35 will be changing. Under the new rules your business may have a new responsibility to make an assessment about whether the contractors you engage are caught by the IR35 off-payroll working rules for the private sector.

If you have a relationship with a contractor that is caught by the IR35 off-payroll working rules, your business will be responsible for deducting income tax and National Insurance contributions from any payments made to that contractor. If contractors have been incorrectly classed as self-employed then there could also be a possibility for back-dated holiday pay and national minimum wage claims under Employment Law.
