Freeths advises Innovative Safety Systems on significant private equity investment

The Freeths private equity team led by Lee Clifford and Olivia Johnson advised the shareholders of vehicle safety specialist, Innovative Safety Systems (ISS), on its significant backing from private equity firm, YFM.

ISS, founded by chief executive Gavin Thoday, is a “one-stop” supply, maintenance and service provider of vehicle safety and efficiency technology equipment for commercial vehicles. Currently employing 31 people, ISS primarily serves the municipal and waste, quarrying and mining, emergency services and passenger transport sectors. The deal with YFM is set to “supercharge” the expansion of ISS.

Thoday said:

"ISS has grown significantly over recent years, driven by a number of ambitious innovations, delivering value enhancing solutions for our customers."

"As we seek to further develop pioneering new software projects that will provide fleet operators with a genuinely differential level of information and visibility, common across their whole fleet, the need for investment and a partner that could support our aspirations was critical."

"The partnership with YFM will support and accelerate these plans, along with providing additional and ongoing investment into our market leading aftersales service.”

Corporate Partner, Lee Clifford, Freeths LLP said:

“ISS has quickly established itself as a front-runner in the market and we are delighted to have advised them on the deal with YFM that will undoubtedly provide them with excellent opportunities for further growth and development.  Congratulations to all involved in the transaction.”

Freeths Corporate and Banking teams including James Dyson (Banking) and Olivia Johnson (Corporate), led by Lee Clifford worked with the shareholders of ISS to complete this investment.
