• Supporting a multi-disciplinary team on a local authority’s disposal of residential units across 3 sites. The deal was structured as a sub-sale, had a sale and leaseback element, and required the buyer to enter into nominations / grant funding agreements. The ability to understand all parties’ commercial aims ensured we could balance our client’s objectives with the buyer’s needs, ensuring the deal proceeded.

Securisation and re-finance work:

• Acting for a social housing provider on its bulk securisation of over 230 properties to a Canadian funder. Being able to understand the funder’s requirements and identify and resolve issues early in the transaction ensured she was able to work proactively with the client to deliver the project on time and on budget and ensured that the client was able to reduce the number of properties down valued on charging. The deal had a value of £10 million.

Real Estate Development:

• Acting on the acquisition of a residential development site with a value greater than £11 million. The deal required the negotiation of several conditional contracts with multiple landowners and required advice on VAT and other taxation issues. By identifying potential problems early in the process, the client was able to ensure that the transaction was structured correctly from the outset and ensure that problems were resolved efficiently and cost effectively, ensuring that the scheme could be delivered on time.
• Leading on the acquisition of 54 units across a phased development. The acquisition involved advising on and negotiating turnkey agreements, golden brick agreements with stage payments and estate management provisions under tight fixed fee arrangements.
